In operation since 1967, Benhaven is a welfare organization serving children, adolescents and adults with autism and pervasive developmental disabilities. Based in Wallingford, Conn., the organization offers a series of vocational training and adult day programs. It also provides residential as well as educational services. With a speech/language pathologist and an occupational therapist, the organization addresses communication, community learning, adaptive behavior and physical education. Benhaven also offers shared living, individual/family support and learning network programs.
