General Info

My husband Jack and I, along with our daughter and son-in-law, welcome you to Rusty Bellies Waterfront Grill. Opened in June of 2005, Rusty Bellies is an achievement of three generations worth of goals spanning some thirty years. We are a family owned and operated establishment. Our family came to Tarpon Springs in the 1970's. My parents, Joe and Sue Reis, began the business by purchasing several boats, including a shrimp boat. Before long they had purchased the boat yard and developed the seafood business. In 1985, Jack and I took over operations, and it wasn't long before Jack began refurbishing boats. In 2002. we launched our shrimp boat, Julie Ann. The Julie Ann produces fresh gulf shrimp for Pelican Point Seafood and Rusty Bellies. Jack has since finished refurbishing the Redman, a grouper fishing boat, and the Crabracadabra, a stone crab boat. To this day the Julie Ann, Redman, and Crabracadabra are still family owned and operated by the Russells. Rusty Bellies Waterfront Grill is named for our family's love of fishing, namely gulf grouper fishing. A "Rusty Bellie" is the nickname given to the large male gag grouper. A "Rusty Bellie" generally ranges between twenty and sixty pounds, and is typically caught by the true at heart fisherpersons. As you look around our restaurant you will see photos of family, friends, and local fisherman that bring the freshest seafood to our dock. The menu gives credit to many of our fishermen by naming the dishes after their beloved boats. Of course, there are too many boats to give credit to each, but keep in mind their dedication to providing FRESH FLORIDA WILD CAUGHT SEAFOOD. It is an honor that we continue what our family began many yeas ago. We value our guests, and we are honored to have you dine with us. Please sit back and enjoy the view and allow us to prepare the freshest seafood, including gluten fee options available for you. OK I tried to order stone crab, "were out", OK scallops, " we don't have the quality to give you fried scallops ", OK clams...." They're really not good quality either.... " while I appreciate the honesty and love the puppies my friend had shrimp combo platter and was sick the entire night , I had clam Linguini's and while the she'll clams as a"garnish " on bowl where God there were 10 cloves of garlic and I believe "quohogs" in with pasta the meal was a disaster and I talked my friend into going! Never again!

What an incredible disappointment!!!! Met there with family after a fishing outing for Father's Day thinking that it would enjoyable for all. Starting with the Greek Salad that was anything but "Greek" the food was BLAND and poorly seasoned.I asked for my grouper to be "blackened" and it tasted as if it had been boiled. The sauce they serve (allegedly dill) did nothing to help conceal the chef's (and I use that title loosely)flawed attempt at preparation. I asked for tartar sauce, foolishly believing that it would provide some "life" but it tasted like pure mayonaise. The scallops and shrimp kebabs were also lacking in zestful taste. Tasted more like they had been cooked last week and heated. It is difficult for me to even mention the yellow rice.Save your money - just buy a package at the supermarket, follow the instructions, and it will turn out better than what was served to us. When asked if we wanted dessert, we said NO THANKS and walked to the bakery two blocks away. Rates -F

We really enjoy this restaurant, and it's friendly staff that always tell us the specials on food as well as their drinks. It's not overly fancy, nor does it have the over inflated prices. My son loves all the cute young servers and always gets his photo taken with one of them. We've eaten inside and outside on the deck, both were very enjoyable (luckily no smokers were outside with us), we were able to watch the birds fish and boats, while we enjoyed the beautiful breeze. They have the best hushpuppies hands down! They have good coleslaw and the blackened grouper was very good as well. We tried the all you can get shrimp but only managed to eat 1 pound. And yes, it was good shrimp. I would recommend this restaurant. Also try Hella's on Dodecanese and get the sampler, it was very good.

Good quality for the price

Have eaten there several times with the family. It is crowded on the weekends for dinner, so sometimes there may be a little wait for a table. The seafood can't get any fresher! The food has a southern touch, with some hints of Greek or Portuguese influence. The hush puppies and conch fritters are the best I have eaten anywhere! Interesting, large selection of beers. My wife enjoys the small but unique wine list. If you can save room for desert, you are sure to satisfy your sweet tooth. We fight over the coconut cake! The servers are friendly.
