Dr. Sean Marvil is the Director of the Sports Medicine Fellowship Faculty at the Taos Orthopaedic Institute. Dr. Marvil specializes in sports medicine, sports-related trauma and arthritis. He has expertise in the surgical procedures and treatment of upper- and lower-extremity injuries and degenerative conditions. In addition, he brings to Taos state of the art, minimally invasive hip arthroplasty, and arthroscopic hip preservation techniques. Dr. Marvil completed his Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Fellowship at Taos Orthopaedic Institute. It is the ultimate testimony to his ability that he was asked to stay and join the Institute as a partner and Fellowship faculty member. Prior to his fellowship position, he was an orthopaedic surgery resident at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. Dr. Marvil received his M.D. from St. George’s University School of Medicine, and graduated with honors, with a B.S. degree from the George Washington University in Washington, DC. He was a two-time All-American lacrosse player at Valley Forge Military Academy. Dr. Marvil has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and is recognized for his award-winning podium presentations in orthopedics and sports medicine. He was also a National Honor Society award winner for academic excellence. His outside interests include riding and building custom motorcycles, fishing and hunting. Total hip replacement, right side. Up & moving with total confidence in the procedure, (due to a clear & concise explanation) & the man holding the blade. His positive mental attitude & the way he presents himself; makes you want to excel. Operated on May 3rd 2022, tying my own shoes within two weeks.
He was very informative and knowledgeable about thge situation. very personable and direct. He gave the information in terms anyone could understand.
The entire process has been unbelievable. The care, concern and understanding that this doctor provided was like no other. The entire staff is always friendly and kind. They never made me feel rushed, always took the time to make me feel welcomed and comfortable. They even answer the phone!!! I could call anytime with any concern and would get to talk to the doctor. The level of service provided was truly like no other. My recovery was very quick, I was able to play golf 3 weeks after my total hip replacement. I'm about 95% in less than 6 weeks...unbelievable! I highly recommend Dr. Marvil!!!
Dr. Marvil has been wonderful. My only feedback would be that the office staff has at times not been very organized or responsive.
I have nothing but good things to say about this practice. Dr. Marvil is an amazingly talented surgeon and has improved my quality of life significantly. I am sorry I did not see him when I first injured my knee and instead had surgery by a different provider. I am impressed by how attentive he is to my concerns and questions. I fully trust his ability and judgement

I would recommend Dr. Marvil to anyone who needs consultation or surgery on their knees.
I've only interfaced with his fellows up to this point as I slept for several hours after the surgery. Despite this, my ACL reconstruction has gone very well overall. I met him for the first time in a follow-up appointment 2.5 months after the initial surgery.

Definitely 5 stars all the way. Dr. Marvil did my shoulder reconstruction and right hip replacement. I will be seeing him again in the future for knee replacement. I trust him completely.
