Dr. John J. DeGuide is a board certified in Gastroenterology and joined Rockford Gastroenterology Associates, Ltd in 2003. Dr. DeGuide graduated from the University of California, San Diego in 1985 with a degree in Chemistry. He received his M.D. in 1989 from Loyola University, Stritch School of Medicine in Chicago. He then completed a residency in Internal Medicine, and a fellowship in Gastroenterol-ogy at Wilford Hall Medical Center at Lackland AFB in Texas. Prior to moving to Rockford, Dr. DeGuide held the position of chief of the Gastroenterology at Wright-Patterson USAF Medical Center in Ohio. Additionally, he was the former co-director of the GI department at Rockford Health System. Dr. DeGuide is Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Illinois College of Medicine and a Fellow of the American Gas-troenterological Association, the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the American College of Gastroenterology and of the American College of Physicians. Dr. DeGuide is on the Executive Board of the Winnebago County Medical Society. He also is a board member of the Illinois State Medical Society and serves as this region’s trustee. Additionally, he has been in many leadership positions at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center including serving as Medical Staff President. Dr. DeGuide is trained in the broad discipline of Gastro-enterology and Hepatology and has special interest in inflammatory bowel and liver disease.

i have had some minor issues and Dr. DeGuide has been able to put me at ease with the treatments and wanting to continue follow up care until all the issues have been resolved. It helps to know that if I am concerned about anything I can ask the questions and answers/alternatives are given.

If it wasn't for Dr. DeGuide and Tosha, his nurse, I'm not sure I would have continued the required follow-up frequency of repeat sigmoids every 3 months. Dr. DeGuide makes all procedures as pleasant as they can be! He has an awesome bedside manner and is extremely competent. We are lucky to have him in our region.
