Just had a new fireplace and stone work completed by DJ of Alternative Heat. I met with DJ in the summer to lay out the new fireplace and we ran into some problems with the local building code. After getting final approval in late October, DJ started the job in mid November. When it looked like the job would not be completed by Thanksgiving, I explained to DJ and Kathy that this would be our first Thanksgiving at "home" in 30 years. DJ worked 12-14-16 hour days to comlete the job prior to Thanksgiving. The fireplace and stone work turned out spectacular. DJ's masonry skills is tremendous and his intricate stone placement and dedication to the job is evident in the finished product. I would recommend Alternative Heat to anyone looking for a new fireplace and consider having DJ do the stone work, it makes the fireplace really stand out.

I worked with DJ and Kathy to install a gas insert into my existing fireplace. Both were exceptionally easy to work with and very flexible to timing and my needs. They held my hand thru the permit process and really explained everything very clearly.

Very Satisfied with the Glass doors,reflective fire glass and R.H.Peterson natural Gas burner system. DJ and Kathy were very thorough in "educating" us both before and after the purchase. The glass doors were installed with great attention to detail. Our plumber was given a direct number for R.H. Peterson and they were very thorough in answering his questions during the burner installation

Highly recommend Alternative Heat for your home improvement project. DJ installed a granite surround, hearth and mantle for our existing gas fireplace. His work was extremely neat and his demeanor very professional. I would use his services in the future in a heartbeat!

I can't begin to put into words how satisfied I am with the work DJ of Alternative Heat did for me. This is the fifth stove I have purchased from them and their work ethic, quality of installation and cleanup is second to none. On November 20, 2017 I purchased a Vermont Castings Intrepid II. DJ installed it and its burning right now absolutely perfectly. Alternative Heat's prices are competitive and their work is absolutely top shelf! DJ and Kathy are the best team in the business. They installed a gorgeous gas fireplace in our living room and an additional wood burning stove in our basement. We are about to have them put in another fireplace in our new house. We'd never go with anyone else. Quality work, super professional, careful with your belongings and ABOVE ALL HONEST! My wife and I were very pleased with all aspects of our Vermont Castings Merrimack wood insert. DJ is very thorough in the planning stage. Our chimney has a stone cap, and he came out before the install to look everything over and decide the best approach. He did the install alone, and it was first rate; thorough, clean, and with photos taken for the inspector, should we need it. I would highly recomment DJ and Alternative Heat to anyone looking to get some real heat from their masonry fireplace!
