Excellent professional, courteous and clean installation by DJ in half day, converting our wood burning fireplace to gas. He installed a gas fireplace insert. I handled getting necessary township permits, electrician and plumber.As expected, there were a few months from when I made initial inquiry to actual installation. I would use DJ again. Actually this was repeat business as he installed the original fireplace doors many years ago.

I seldom take the time to right a review but this company, specifically DJ did an amazing job repairing my gas fireplace. I can recognize honest and reliable work when I see it... he also took the time to go over everything with me. Would highly recommend :).

My five star rating says it all. DJ came to address problems caused by improper installation of our fireplace. (Alternative Heat did not do the installation in 1989). He was careful to get as much information as possible before scheduling to save time on the job and be prepared with all necessary materials. Work was done pleasantly, efficiently, professionally and most important when working on a fireplace - CLEANLY! Provided many useful suggestions while working not related to the specific problem. Would be great if all providers had his work ethic. Highly recommend.

We originally purchased our Mendota Fireplace from Alternative Heat in 2001. This was the first service call we had to make. The fan motor had to be replaced. I called and described the problem to D.J. The parts were ordered, the appointment was made and kept. The work was performed in a clean and orderly manner; "PERFECT" from beginning to end. Any problems with your fireplace, call Alternative Heat to solve them.

I had DJ, an owner of Alternative Heat, put in my gas fireplace in 2008. I could not have made a better decision. Both DJ and Kathy walked me through the process of getting the needed permits, choosing the fireplace unit, the mantle and marble face. On the day DJ was to install the unit, I did not know how this would happen. DJ covered my floors with drop cloths, cut the wood for the framing outside and installed the unit in one day. There was no mess at all and he left leaving the house very clean. Once the necessary fireplace and venting inspections were complete, DJ came back and added the wall board, marble front and mantle and my fireplace was done. I could not have been more pleased. Since then, if I have any questions, I just have to call and ask, and my questions are answered. Recently, I called and scheduled an appointment to clean the glass, and make a general inspection of the unit. Again I could not have been more pleased.If you are in the market for a new fireplace or if you want to change an existing fireplace from wood to gas, you could not ask for a better choice than Alternative Heat. Alternative Heat did an excellent job from start to finish, installing our direct vent gas fireplace. Kathy and DJ were professional, courteous, and completed the job above the expectations set during the sale. Purchased and had installed a Mendota gas fireplace insert heater. The product itself exceeds our expectations as far as levels of control over the insert, such as 5 flame levels, 5 fan speed levels, dimmable lighting, and several thermostat control settings. During the first 2 or 3 days when the insert is hot there is a strong odor from the paint on the unit, however the odor does completely go away after a few days. Installation is done in a neat and highly professional manner, with all phases passing town code inspections.

After visiting 3 fireplace stores I bought a gas insert from Alternative Heat. I am very happy with the insert and their installation. I would give them my highest recvomendation.

We recently purchased a Vermont Casting's Wood Insert from Alternative Heat and had it in installed. They were very professional in the approach and their experience showed as we have an older home and it required some additional work to install it. What a nice guy, DJ, who came in an instant when we needed our gas fireplace checked out. We could not get it started and we were in a panic because it is in our closed porch which has no heating system other than our gas fireplace. Found DJ and Kathy after visiting a few other fireplace dealers. We were looking for doors for the front of our refaced masonry fireplace wall. They really took the time to explain the positives/negatives of various options. Once we made a choice DJ came out to make measurements and then rushed our order through so we had a chance to get it installed before Christmas. Lo and behold DJ installed it this week and did an outstanding job!! We are very happy and cannot recommend Alternative Heat more strongly!!

I needed servicing on my over 15 year old Mendota gas fireplace. DJ arrived precisely when he said he would to replace the thermal couple. He did meticulous work being very neat and thoroughly explained what he was doing when asked. The unit also needed a good cleaning and DJ left it much better than he found it. He upgraded it with 'lava rocks' and adjusted the 'brick' liner as needed among other things. In short, he surpassed my expectations and I will not hesitate to use him in the future. More importantly his price was very reasonable. He is fair and honest which is much appreciated in today's world.

I cannot tell you how pleased I was with DJ and Kathy. The pilot light suddenly went out on my almost 10 year old Mendota Gas fireplace. DJ showed up exactly when he promised and his work was extremely meticulous. He was an absolute pleasure to deal with and so was Kathy. Very caring and very honest people.
