The technical skills Ive acquired performing colonoscopy and endoscopy for over 30 years is just one of the many skills required for comprehensive patient care. The greatest satisfaction I get as a physician is taking the time to know my patients as people. Behind every patient is a person with real fears and anxieties, families, jobs and multiple other facets of their lives. Without knowing the person, you cannot fully heal the patient. I want each of my patients to feel that I treated them as I would want my family and loved ones to be treated. Gastroenterology, above all other fields in medicine, presents the greatest diversity of both disease and chance for healing. The vast spectrum of illness in gastroenterology presents a never-ending challenge and opportunity to both learn as a clinician and heal as a physician. Personally, I enjoy a lifelong love of the outdoors, especially scuba and underwater photography as well as reading crime novels. My family is an extremely important part of my life and a source of great pride and joy.

I have been suffering for years with stomach issues and have been to several specialists and have had many tests done. Fast forward to massive weight loss and fatigue and I found this awesome doctor. He realized I have not been treated properly for my condtion and helped me get on the right path to healing.

He is worth commuting from Manhattan to see and taking time from fulltime job.
Dr. Sandberg and his assistant were empathetic, attentive, thourough and reassuring. All was explained in a relaxed yet detailed manner. Both he and his assistant were special and have the "humaness" which is often all too rare. I appreciate the entire experience.

I like the fact that Dr. Sandberg is old school. Doctors like him do not exist snymore. He's very patient and takes the time to discuss about the medical condition that I was experiencing. I did not feel rushed during my visits and he seems very thorough. I am glad he is my gastroenterologist.
