Dr. Rishi Kumar joined Kumar Eye Institute in 2007, specializing in advanced Cataract Surgery and Glaucoma. Dr. Rishi is a board-certified Ophthalmologist with special interests in Cataract and Glaucoma. He is co-author of several peer-reviewed articles and books in glaucoma diagnostics and has been a mentor to medical students in glaucoma research. He performs over 500 cataract, glaucoma, and laser procedures annually. With his friendly and upbeat personality, Dr. Rishi puts his patients at ease while meeting all their eye care needs. Dr. Rishi completed his surgical fellowship training in advanced cataract and glaucoma with one of the world’s leading eye surgeons at John A. Moran Eye Center in Utah. He completed his residency at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. He obtained his medical degree at George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in 2001 and his undergraduate degree from Columbia University in 1997.

amazing as aways
I was told more than a few times I would benefit from cataract surgery by Doctor Kumar and followed up by Doctor Mugavin an associate of Doctor Kumar. Being a little apprehensive is an understatement but Doctor Rishi Kumar assured me he had done many of these and saw no problems with my case. The entire staff made for a smooth and successful outcome.

I went in for a baseline checkup after learning I could genetically be at risk for macular degeneration. I learned I had other issues I was unaware of instead. Two cataracts later and treatments for other problems I can now see without glasses and my eyes feel much better. Dr Kumar guided me through the process explaining each process quickly and throughly. This has been nearly painless but most important I can see and expect to retain my healthy eyes thanks to Dr Kumar and his professional staff. Sight slips away so gradually you can be in trouble with out knowing it. I urge everyone to make an appointment today.
