Founded in 1889, Belmont Elementary School provides learning opportunities to more than 770 students in pre-kindergarten through grade five. Its academic curriculum includes various subjects, such as language arts, computer studies and math. The school also conducts classes in art, physical education and vocal music. Belmont Elementary School offers several extracurricular activities that include swing choir, chorus and recycling club. The school provides special education programs for students with learning disabilities and speech and orthopedic impairments. It has a staff of more than 100 people and operates the Belmont Family Association. Belmont Elementary School features a media center and gymnasium. It provides various family programs, such as literacy and math nights and Love and Logic Parent classes. The school additionally offers reading recovery, junior achievement, foster grandparents and English Language Learners programs.
