Dr. Matthew Sorensen is a fellowship-trained, board-certified foot & ankle surgeon. He is accomplished in foot and ankle reconstructive surgery and specializes in complex deformity, sports injury, arthroscopy and trauma of the lower extremities. In his foot & ankle fellowship at the Orthopedic Foot & Ankle Center in Columbus, OH, Dr. Sorensen had the unique opportunity to engage the athletic teams of The Ohio State University, Columbus Blue Jackets, and Columbus Crew, participating in the surgical management and rehabilitation of these high-level athletes. Additionally, has treated, both surgically and non-surgically, athletes from the University of Illinois, University of Minnesota, Chicago Bears, Chicago Bulls, Libertyville High School, Lake Forest High School as well as the Joffrey Ballet. He also is one of few foot & ankle specialists in the Midwest to have intensive training and experience in total ankle replacement and complex limb deformity correction. Additionally, Dr. Sorensen acts as the Director of the world-renowned WFAI Advanced Foot & Ankle Reconstruction Fellowship, and he serves on the Scientific Committee for the American College of Foot & Ankle Surgeons. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed scientific papers and regularly speaks as invited faculty at national and international scientific meetings. As a consultant and design surgeon for major orthopedic implant companies, he has enjoyed involvement in product innovation and surgeon education throughout his career. As a former collegiate athlete, he has additional special interest in advanced “Return to Sport” after injury/surgery and early weight-bearing protocols, and he is engaged in a current clinical study examining this role in the foot & ankle.

Provided by Doctor.comWent to see Dr. Sorensen in late January for fifth metatarsal break. Did not require surgery. He was very terse and answers no questions; left feeling worse than when I arrived. Told me I did not have to wear the boot at night and did not comprehend that I needed to walk daily for my job; would not fill out paperwork to put me on 'light desk duty.'
