- Parasites Treatment and ControlLyme disease is very similar in dogs and people. It causes lameness, and can affect the kidneys. It is carried by the Deer Tick. We have a very effective vaccine, and combined with tick control, it is a disease that is very preventable.
- Pain ManagementAnything that causes pain in people can be expected to cause pain in animals. Pets may not show the same symptoms of pain as people do; they usually don't whine or cry, but you can be sure they feel it. Pain medications needed will depend on the surgery performed. Major procedures require more pain relief than things like minor lacerations.

- Leptospirosis TreatmentLeptospirosis is a disease carried by rodents and racoons. It causes kidney and liver failure, and may also be passed to people. Treatment involves hospitalization with antibiotic and fluid therapy. It is much easier to prevent by vaccinating, than it is to treat.
- Parvovirus Infection TreatmentDA2PP (the "Distemper shot") is a combination of viruses that can make a dog extremely ill. Distemper affects the respiratory and neurologic systems, Even with aggressive treatment, it may not be possible to save a dog. Canine Parvovirus is a disease that causes severe vomiting and diarrhea, and is passed through infected stool. The vaccine for both these viruses is very effective in preventing illness. The only time we see these diseases, is in unvaccinated animals. After the initial puppy series, and a booster the following year, the "Distemper shot" is given once every 3 years for the rest of the dogs life.
