GM Dong has been my instructor since 1974. He is the most gifted athlete and martial artist I have ever met. Though I have four other black belts in other disciplines, I consider GM Dong my "teacher". He is the greatest mentor, friend, and instructor I have ever known in martial arts. Richmond is blessed to have him, and students fortunate enough to study under him have received a rare gift.

Grandmaster Dongs Karate is the best place to learn all the aspects of martial arts for kids and adults. I have been here for a year now and am still constantly learning new techniques and tools to not only make myself a better martial artist but a better person as well. Everyone at the studio is one big family so if you need help with anything they are more than happy to help you. I started practicing karate in 1975. I've attended four schools since then. After about a 15 year absence, I started attending Dong's. I've been very impressed with the quality of teaching as well as the philosophy advanced by the school. Classes have been very enjoyable. I've gotten back into shape, and have learned things that other schools never even hinted at. I would recommend Dong's to anyone, adult or child, and do, with no reservations.

We love Dong's School! My son, currently 7 1/2 years old, started when he was 4. He is now a first-degree black belt and working toward his second degree. My husband was so impressed with everything our son has been learning that he himself enrolled this year and is loving it. The instructors are superb. They are able to walk that fine line between maintaining discipline in a class of children and still having the children genuinely like them. They care for and respect each of the students, encouraging them to set goals and reach them. The discipline and respect my son has been learning, not to mention the physical skills, has helped him in all aspects of his life. He handles difficult situations at school in a very mature manner. I can't say enough good things about Dong's and how much it has meant to our family.

I LOVED my son's Martial Arts school in Texas, and then we moved to Virginia. Fortunately, when we moved to here, we found Dong's Karate. I didn't ever think I could find a place EVEN BETTER than the school in Texas! My son is doing better than ever & I have even started taking classes. I have never met a set of instructors, parents and students (kids & adults) who all love what they are doing so much. I was beyond impressed, when I found out that Grand Master Dong himself often teaches the adult classes - I feel awed & honored to learn from him. The amazing thing is....he thinks of himself as just a normal guy and keeps telling me to relax! :)

Dong's Tae Kwon Do is the best thing I have ever done for myself. My brother and I had always had the desire to take karate when we were kids, but between soccer and school we never got around to it. We are now in our thirties. Last year for christmas, our wives gave us the 2 lesson trial from Dong's and we fell in love. Attending classes at Dong's gives us exercise with a purpose along with self-discipline and confidence never before even conceived. All of the instructors are amazing and help to ensure that you get the most out of your time in class. Grand Master Dong himself often teaches our classes! What other school has been around for forty years with the original founder still teaching today? Grand Master Dong teaches me personally whenever he can, and often checks in with me as to how I am doing. It's really an amazing experience, you should definitely try it. You too will fall in love.

This is an excellent school . With highly qualified instructors and Grand Master Dong is "THE REAL DEAL" one of very few Grand Masters who has multiple styles. Five different martial arts styles are taught by Grand Master Dong: Tae Kwon Do, Pro Tae Kwon Do, Kum Do, HapKiDo and Yu Ga Kwon. As an instructor in a different style it is an honor to learn from the best that the area has to offer. My child attends classes regularly as well, her grades have improved from C's and D's to A's and B's in under 6 months of training, she is well disciplined and respectful to others.
