Established in 1961, Lakewood Elementary School maintains its campus in Ann Arbor, Mich. The school enrolls students in kindergarten through grade five. Its facilities include a computer laboratory, library, cafeteria, art room, playground and classrooms. It conducts classes in math, science, social studies, English, computer applications, physical education, art, and vocal and instrumental music. Lakewood Elementary School provides before- and after-school child care programs, as well as special education services for students with speech and learning disabilities. The school also conducts various extracurricular activities, including field trips, classroom enrichment events and outreach programs. Its library stocks a collection of more than 8,000 study and leisure reading materials. Additionally, Lakewood Elementary School participates in several promotional programs, such as Boxtops for Education and Campbell s Soup Labels. It has a parent-teacher organization that raises funds for supporting the educational programs of students. Lakewood Elementary School is a part of Ann Arbor Public Schools.
