Established in 1957, Hi-Desert Star features local news, sports, real estate, classified listings, advertising, arts and entertainment. It is carrier-delivered every Wednesday and Saturday, serving the communities of Yucca Valley, Morongo Valley, Pioneertown, Joshua Tree and Landers, Calif. The newspaper's publisher, Hi-Desert Publishing, serves the Morongo Basin area of California with its publications Hi-Desert Star, The Desert Trail, Observation Post and Hi-Desert Shopper. The Desert Trail, established in 1935, is delivered on Thursday mornings and provides content tailored for Twentynine Palms and other communities at the east end of the Morongo Basin. Observation Post was established in 1956 to provide news and entertainment to the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms, Calif. The paper is delivered to more than 35,000 military and civilian personnel every Friday morning. The Hi-Desert Shopper, established in 1970, is a complimentary advertising publication distributed throughout the Morongo Basin. Hi-Desert Publishing is located in Yucca Valley, Calif.
