Hunter Street Elementary School is a Title I institution with an enrollment of more than 800 students in prekindergarten through fifth grade. It is governed by York School District One and is located in York, S.C. The school s staff includes a media specialist, physical education instructor, art and music teacher, emotionally and learning disabled specialist, literacy and instructional coach, primary literacy specialist and pathologist. It operates a communication center, which provides speech and hearing services. The school organizes several curricular programs, including reading recovery, everyday math, measures of academic progress and Montessori kindergarten. Hunter Street Elementary School maintains a parent-teacher organization that sponsors educational and social programs to compliment the classroom curriculum.
