General Info
John Allen House is an Eastlake Victorian Mansion finished in 1881. One of the few remaining mansions from the Gilded Age, the house retains the original high ceilings, wood and brass details, 25 rooms, 30 chandeliers, and 9 fireplace mantles. Open to the public since 2002, John Allen House features 4 suites with private baths as well as 2 public dining areas, 3 sitting porches, 1 screened gazebo, 2 fire pits, and 1 grill. Greene County has many attractions; our bike trails are recognized among the finest in the nation, and the "hub" (Xenia Station) of five trails is just four blocks away. Bike storage is offered at the house and groups up to 16 are welcome. The main dining features filtered water, ice, food storage, 24-hour snacks, and minor cooking facilities. Other nearby popular attractions are the Air Force Museum, Young's Jersey Dairy and Clifton Mills. The eclectic town of Yellow Springs, the antique shops of Waynesville, the Outlet Malls and the Greene Outdoor strolling mall are all just a 15-30 drive away. Or just come to relax; sit and have a chat, enjoy your iced tea with a gentle breeze on the porch.
