Established in 1848, the Wyoming Police Department provides law enforcement and crime prevention services. The department operates detective, patrol, community and administrative division services. It has a records division that processes and manages criminal records, clearance reports, and arrest and search warrants. Its patrol services division operates K-9, internal affairs, fleet services and selective enforcement units. The Wyoming Police Department conducts investigations, gathers evidence, and interviews suspects, victims and witnesses. The department responds to emergency and nonemergency calls for service. It intervenes in cases of theft, burglary, robbery, sexual assault, serious crime and narcotics trafficking. It also offers neighborhood and child watch programs. In addition, the Wyoming Police Department organizes several safety-related training programs for the general public. The department is headquartered in Wyoming, Mich.
