The Colleges of Worcester Consortium is a nonprofit association of more than 10 public and private accredited colleges and universities that are located in central Massachusetts. Established in 1968, it focuses on organizational effectiveness and shared services among its college and university members; higher education opportunities for disadvantaged students and adults; and local and regional economic development and civic engagement opportunities. The association serves over 6,000 students, including nearly 400 undergraduate students annually. The Colleges of Worcester Consortium offers approximately 350 courses and facilitates a Certificate in College Teaching program. It also operates a management certificate program and stand-alone training workshops for the skills development of managers and supervisors of its member institutions. Additionally, the association maintains an online database for local and regional businesses, nonprofit organizations and government agencies to post internship opportunities for area college students.
