LEAD Certified, we are fully capable of doing lead removal in addition to our specialties which include masonry work, Residential/Commercial General Exterior Work, Interior Improvement Services and Handyman Services. Johansen General Contracting's humble origins started with its founder, John Johansen, who began working as a construction apprentice at the age of 16. By the age of 18, Mr. Johansen became a union carpenter and worked at the Newport Towers in Jersey City. His services involved building or repairing kitchen cabinets, trims, closets and doors. I am very pleased with Johansen excellent workmanship and the quality of the repair. After repairing my roof last year with a local contractor I thought the problem was solved. With this company I paid the same amount of money and the workmanship was superior . I love the feature of taking digital pictures of my roof before and after the repair. They also examined the rest of the roof which gives me piece of mind. I will definitely refer them to friends and family . Great customer service !!!!
I just had Excelsior complete a full roof repair on my home last week. I cannot say enough great things about their professionalism to work with and the quality of their work! They did an exceptional job!! I am recommending them to all my friends who need roof work.
The roofing team knew what they were doing. They replaced roofing plywood only where needed and did a nice job. They cleaned up reasonably well after the job. They were very pleasant and did everything I asked them to do including installing two bathroom vents and an attic ventilator. Their fee was reasonable. I really liked the idea that they use a trailor for the debris removal and that saves the driveway from damage and saves us waiting for a bin to be removed. Nice job all around. finally, John was great to deal with!

After the weekend rain there was substantial leakage coming from the ceiling. Called a number of roof repair companies and Johansen Improvements was the only one to call me back on the same day. They sent out a repairman out the next day. He was personable and professional. Discovered small holes/cracks between the flashing and roof/brick work. The flashing was nailed down and re-caulked expeditiously. Thank you
Excellent place! Beautiful cabinets and great service. We bought kitchen cabinets there for a major remodel: good quality and very reasonable price. The most important: very personable and client-oriented service. They were our representative: knowledgeable about her business, always available to give advice and ... simply a wonderful person to work with. That last thing cannot be undervalued: remodels are stressful!
Hired Johansen to paint three rooms at our new home. The Johansen team is very professional, friendly and fast and charged the quoted price. Will definitely call them again for our next painting job.
I contacted them online and they responded right away. They repaired a few shringles that flew off during a rain storm. I tried other companies before but they were either too busy or said they would come and never showed up. Johansen General Contracting came when they said they would and did an excellent job. I will definitely use them again when the weather gets warmer to replace my whole roof!
After finding water leaking from my ceiling I phoned Johansen General Contracting and they responded immediately. Although it was a cold wintery day they were able to come the next day and repair the roof. They even phoned me from the roof detailing the problem and later supplied pictures. I was pleased to have the problem fixed so quickly and professionally.

Johansen Improvements did some work on our eavestrough...the work was done in a timely manner. They also inspected our roof and provided pictures to document a few problem areas. Potential solutions were explained on site, and later e-mailed.
