Barbour Stockwell was founded in 1858 and throughout its history has been involved in the design, development, and manufacture of special machinery for unusual applications. In keeping with this tradition, BSi began building high speed spin test turbines for General Electric Company at the dawn of the jet age. In the early 1950's the company began to devote its entire capabilities to the development and application engineering of high speed drives and control systems.Today, from our 20, 000 ft 2 facility in Woburn, Massachusetts, the company continues this work. Our unsurpassed ability to generate and precisely control high speed shaft power is the key advantage in our spin test facilities and test benches.All the leading producers of rotating machinery and related components as well as government and university laboratories use our products throughout the world. Many of the facilities we have built have incorporated environmental control systems. We have provided such systems to generate temperatures from 80 Kelvin to 1, 100 C. The cryogenic system was part of a complete spin test facility for testing NASA Space Shuttle Main Engine Rotors.
