Founded in 2000, Aeris Therapeutics is a privately held corporation providing treatments for various lung diseases such as emphysema and chronic bronchitis. The center conducts research in the fields of interventional pulmonology, tissue repair, drug delivery and surfactants. Aeris's main product is a bronchoscopic lung volume reduction system which is a nonsurgical treatment for patients with emphysema. Emphysema is a progressive, degenerative disease of the lung that affects more than 2 million Americans and over 8 million people worldwide. Aeris has facilities in Woburn and North Grafton, Mass.
