Founded in 1981, Exchange/SCAN is a nonprofit organization that works in the prevention and treatment of child abuse in Forsyth, Stokes, Surry, Yadkin, Alamance and other counties in North Carolina. Its prevention services include 24-hour emergency hotline, parenting classes and respite care services for stressed parents. Exchange/SCAN offers System of Care program that is a community outreach program designed to promote the infrastructure connecting the public child welfare agency with families and other natural community resources. It also provides adolescent parenting program that support teenager mothers. Exchange/SCAN operates the Parenting Institute, which increases the capacity of communities to deliver parent education programs in North Carolina. It is located in Winston Salem, N.C.
