- Intellectual PropertyWhile in law school, Jason served as articles editor for the Wake Forest Intellectual Property Law Journal and received CALI awards in sports law and workers’ compensation law. He also served as a judicial intern at the North Carolina Supreme Court and at the United States District Court for the Western District of North Carolina.
- Workers CompensationMs. Ruark received a Bachelor of Arts cum laude from Wake Forest University in 1984. She graduated magna cum laude from the Wake Forest University School of Law in 1987 and served as Notes and Comments Editor for The Wake Forest Law Review. She has also served as an adjunct professor for the Wake Forest University School of Law, and as an advisor and instructor for its successful National Trial Team. She has given numerous presentations to insurance carriers and employers in the area of workers’ compensation defense. She is a member of the North Carolina State Bar, the North Carolina Bar Association and its Workers’ Compensation Section, and the Forsyth County Bar Association. She served as the 2009-2010 Chair of the Workers’ Compensation Section of the North Carolina Bar Association and continues to serve on the section council. Ms. Ruark has been recognized as one of the Best Lawyers by U.S. News & World Report from 2011 through 2022. Best Lawyers in America has named Ms. Ruark the 2018 and 2021 "Lawyer of the Year" in its Triad workers' compensation defense division. Barbara's leisure interests include spending time with her family, church activities, boating and camping.
- Personal InjuryMark Leach joined Orbock Ruark & Dillard, PC in 2001 and has been a partner in the firm since 2004. His practice is focused on workers' compensation defense. He has also defended cases in North Carolina's state and federal courts in the areas of asbestos liability, trade secrets, breach of contract, personal injury, and criminal defense. He has served as a supervising attorney with the Wake Forest University School of Law Civil and Criminal Externship Clinic. He has authored manuscripts and presented on workers' compensation issues for various continuing legal education and private client seminars.
- Medical MalpracticeJason P. Burton has re-joined Orbock Ruark & Dillard in 2020 after previously working as an associate at the firm from 2008 to 2012. He has focused his practice with the firm in workers’ compensation defense and has previous experience in medical malpractice defense and civil litigation. He has experience defending all types of workers’ compensation cases, including asbestos and other complex occupational disease cases.
