General Info
My grandmother had Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, kidney disease and other co-morbidities that led to her being in pain as well as to multiple hospital visits. I remember reading the registered dietitian's notes to my grandmother about portion control, weighing her proteins and counting carbs. That gave me the motivation to pursue nutrition and dietetics; I saw first-hand how beneficial it was for my grandmother to have that kind of support. \n My grandmother, who passed away in 2016, never knew me as a registered dietitian. But I promised her that if I did obtain my RD credential, I would care for my patients just as I would have cared for her. It's a promise I hold dear. \n I love supporting patients in reaching their weight loss goals, increasing their awareness of smart food choices and encouraging them every step of the way! \n It's important to me that I care for patients based on their personal needs rather than using one approach for everyone. It's important to consider an individual's culture, socioeconomic status and their daily routines when trying to provide the best nutritional care. I work to create a plan to accommodate each person that considers any barriers or limitations they're faced with. \n I take pride in connecting with my patients. I really take the time to listen to their concerns. I believe in meeting individuals where they are in their weight loss journey, while offering nutrition advice that's realistic for each patient. \n In my free time, I love to hike; cuddle with my cat, Bumper; watch movies; and eat! (Healthfully, of course.) My favorite meals come from Japanese and Italian restaurants. I also enjoy spending time with my family and friends, laughing and making memories with those I love.
