I've been growing and planting natives in my Twin Cities yard and for projects with local parks for 20 years. Prairie Moon is my favorite source for seed and bare root plants. The seed is fresh and the roots are very high quality. Staff are helpful and friendly. Starting native plants from seed is often tricky and requires knowledge of each species' quirks. After a few years of experimenting with different types of seed starting mix and plastic flat types, I've got a yard full of happy plants. Now I grow the easier plants in flats every year to donate to friends and restoration projects at local county and city parks.

Everything I have read about Prairie Moon Nursery has been positive. However, most of what I have read has referred to plants. I ordered $50 worth of seeds (25 species) for my nursery and across the board I have had very poor germination rates even after stratification. Their selection is great, and the quality is poor. I will never order seeds from them again.
