Jay-Randolph Developmental Services Inc. is a nonprofit organization that provides rehabilitation, job placement, residential and community based services for people with disabilities. Based in Portland, Ind., its services include assisting adults with disabilities to live on their own, arranging small town group homes and offering habilitation training. These include activities like teaching use of a walker, wheelchair or other adaptive equipment and mentoring social and dining skills in local restaurants. It also provides community sheltered employment, teaching basic life skills, training on the use of area entertainment, education and assisting them with daily hygiene, dressing, housekeeping, meals and self-help skills. The organization serves Jay County, Randolph County and the surrounding areas. It is accredited by Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).
