Wilmington Development Services Department is comprised of the planning, engineering and traffic engineering divisions. Located in Wilmington, N.C., the department provides technical support to more than 10,000 commercial, industrial and residential clients annually. Its planning division oversees various services, such as rezoning analysis, development reviews, historic preservations, long-range, environmental and transportation planning, and cape fear breeze programs. The departments engineering services include development of capital projects, construction management and site plan reviews, and variances and appeal services. Additionally, it handles civil engineering services, surveying and designing solutions, subdivision regulations and storm water ordinances, signal operations, pavement markings, streetlights and neighborhood traffic schemes.
