General Info
Blue Marble Honors Academy, A New Home School Academy in Wilmington, North Carolina, For Grades 6-12, featuring A Distance Learning HomeSchool with Optional Personal Instruction in Our “Reading Room”, Tuition Starting at $2700/year. Blue Marble Honors Academy offers two programs: our traditional secondary school program for normal graduation after 12th grade; and our Early High School Graduation, for those that may like to finish early. Both are college preparatory programs. The curricula of both programs are geared toward taking the eventual SAT and ACT exams. Traditional Secondary School Program. We offer a traditional college preparatory course sequencing leading to graduation after the 12th grade. As always, we teach to the SAT and ACT college entrance exams, and our students practice these tests. And as with our fast-track program, we offer a college preparatory curriculum in which the usual required courses for admission to college are included. Students may be admitted at any grade level. As opposed to the 12-month schedule for our fast-track program, our traditional program follows the normal public school calendar, with the exception that family vacation times can be taken at any time. Fast-track Early High School Graduation: This program operates all year round (12 months). We proceed slowly, yet carefully, through a curriculum designed to complete the required high school courses by the end of 10th Grade. For example, the normal sequence for Biology, Chemistry, Physics is 10th, 11th, 12th grades. We do these in 8th, 9th, and 10th. Similarly, we move the typical math sequence down as well, so that our students reach advanced mathematics in the 10th grade rather than the 12th. From our experience, this is not a problem for students that conscientiously follow our math workbooks with our guidance. After completing the 10th Grade in our program, students are expected to take the GED exam which will then qualify them for the SAT and ACT college entrance examinations. The GED is required in order to qualify for the SAT at age 16. We will work with you to develop a college plan or even a career plan involving apprenticeships
