Welcome to the 2010-2011 school year and thank you for being a part of Williamstown Elementary School community. I am excited for the coming school year. Teams of teachers have been working diligently during the summer to develop curriculum to better meet the needs of our students. We will be implementing a new behavior initiative called Positive Behavior Interventions and Support system (PBiS). PBiS is a school wide system which dovetails with our Responsive Classroom work. Students will be taught behavioral expectations in all settings and will earn recognition and rewards for their class by following the expectation. When you come into the school you will notice our PBiS Theme and the four school rules: "Bee" responsible, "Bee" respectful, "Bee" safe and "Bee" a learner. You will be hearing more about this initiative at our Open House on September 21, 2010 at 5: 30 p.m. All of us Williamstown Elementary School are proud to serve this community. Our first responsibility is the education of your child in a safe and supportive environment. This education takes many forms: academic, social, and emotional. All of the rules, regulations, procedures, and curriculum offerings are meant to promote a quality education in a safe and supportive environment for your child. We must form a partnership to bridge the world of home and school. I encourage you to visit our school frequently and keep in touch with your child's teacher. Studies show that children are more successful when their parents/guardians are actively involved in their school. We will do our best to educate your child, and we know that you will do your best. Everyone wins when we work as a team to ensure that Williamstown's children have the skills and knowledge to become successful, healthy and caring adults.
