Operational since 1957, Benton Elementary School serves students in kindergarten through grade five. The school s educational programs include instruction in mathematics, science and reading. It also offers before- and after-school child care programs. Benton Elementary School features a library and computer laboratory. The school operates a school site council and provides membership options for students to participate in the Accelerated Reader and Mary Benton Explorers programs. It organizes extracurricular activities that include field trips and book fairs. In addition, Benton Elementary School offers special education classes for students with learning disabilities and behavior disorders. The school is a part of Wichita Public Schools, which governs various elementary, middle and high schools.
