Chamisa Elementary School offers classes from grades kindergarten through six, and is governed by the Los Alamos Public Schools. The school district offers an intensive academic curriculum based on individual student's needs, abilities and interests. The school s curriculum includes English, science, social studies, mathematics, physical education and music. It offers various extracurricular activities, including band, orchestra, choir, art and Web clubs, book and stitching clubs, and student council. The school has certified diagnosticians providing educational diagnosis for students with special learning and behavioral needs, including students who are gifted or who have learning disabilities, behavioral disorders, mental and physical handicaps, and multiple disabilities. The school has a parent-teacher organization to support the work of the school system, including enrichment programs, special events and projects.
