- Employment ContractSuccessfully defended the president of a closely-held telecommunications equipment manufacturer against a shareholder’s claims that he had breached his fiduciary duty and an employment contract by allegedly conspiring with the company’s accountants to inflate their fees and by approving excessive expenses. The case was resolved at an early stage of the litigation, with the client paying nothing in settlement.
- Employment LitigationCurrently, Mr. Loveless serves as Counsel to the Town Attorney for the Town of Pound Ridge and previously served as Counsel to the County of Westchester Industrial Development Agency. He has tried numerous cases to verdict and argued appeals in State and Federal Courts, including the Second Circuit and New York’s Court of Appeals including a $20,000,000 subrogation claim that was ultimately decided by the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. Additionally, through his work with the Uniformed Firefighters Association, he was involved in negotiating labor agreements and handling disciplinary matters. His extensive work in the field of education law involved employment issues, discipline and question of tenures, including a matter also decided by the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.

- Estate PlanningOur friend, our colleague, and our Chairman, William F. Harrington, passed away at the age of 78 in January, 2010. “BJ” Harrington joined the Firm in 1959, where he practiced law for 51 years and served as our Chairman and Managing Partner for 35 years. He was an accomplished attorney in trust and estate litigation and oversaw the growth of Bleakley Platt into one of the premier law firms in the region. He also served as Legislative Counsel to Lt. Governor Malcolm Wilson between 1964 and 1973, as Town Attorney for the Town of Pound Ridge from 1980 to 1985, and Town Justice for the Town of Pound Ridge between 1985 and 1991. BJ received a degree in accounting from Manhattan College in 1953 and his law degree from Fordham University School of Law in 1959.
