It all began five years ago when I started a custom catering and supper delivery service for southern California residents. Our retail location in Westlake Village served as our kitchen and my office. Now and then someone would walk by and ask if we were open for lunch, so in the interest of making a new friend and maybe a new catering client, I'd throw something together for them. It was one of these personal lunches that started our famous Deluxe Cheeseburger. With a fresh-baked roll, a Black-Angus patty, a load of cheese, and a few fresh fixings, I threw together a hamburger. This local on his lunch break was so happy about the meal that he brought back a group of friends the next day. Soon, word of mouth had packed out my office during lunch hours. Since then, we've opened our doors to customers like him, so that now thousands have been able to enjoy what our customers have dubbed "The World's Best Burger." Our menu ( and consequently our dining area ) has expanded, and includes a variety of sandwiches, salads, and side dishes. And the most gratifying part for us is that it's all been customer driven. We simply tried to make the best food possible to please the people that came our way, and that has set us apart in this industry. Yes, we're a business. Yes, we hire the top people we can find. Yes, we demand the best when it comes to our food. But our goal here at The Ranch has been, and always will be, to please our community, person by person. For us, it's not just about profits-it's about people
