MannKind Corporation is a biopharmaceutical company that is focused on the discovery, development and commercialization of therapeutic products for diseases such as diabetes and cancer. It is in Phase 3 clinical trials of its lead product, the Technosphere Insulin System, in the U.S. and Europe, to study its safety and efficacy in the treatment of diabetes. This therapy consists of a proprietary dry powder Technosphere formulation of insulin that is inhaled into the deep lung using its proprietary MedTone inhaler. The inhaler is light, easy to use and fits in the palm of the patient's hand, which is believed to facilitate patient compliance.
