Established in 1959, the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training sets minimum selection and training standards for California law enforcement. The organization employs more than 120 staff members, as well as offers services to over 550 agencies. It provides job-related assessment tools, management counseling services, reimbursement for training and leadership training programs. The organization conducts various research programs and also develops training courses. It offers team building workshop, cultural diversity, field management, executive development, supervision courses and programs. The organization provides hiring services for investigators, cadets, trainees, recruits, police communications supervisors, community service officers and records assistants. In addition, it awards professional certificates to recognize peace officer achievements and proficiencies. The Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training is located in Sacramento, Calif.
