Established in 1978, Academy For Practical Nursing And Health Occupations offers vocational and non-vocational programs to the workforce community through various activities designed to improve job skills. Its programs prepare students to work in nursing homes, health agencies, hospitals, clinics, laboratories, adult living facilities, and surgical, adult day care and rehabilitation centers. The academy offers student placement, child care, food, clothing, transportation, volunteer and health counseling services. Academy For Practical Nursing And Health Occupations patient care technician program includes home health aide and nurse and patient care assisting, as well as restorative aide, unit secretary and phlebotomy skills. It provides classroom lectures, return demonstrations and clinical experience in various nursing homes and hospitals.
