The Veterinary Medical Center of Long Island is spread over an area of more than 18,000 square feet. It is a 24-hour, emergency and multispecialty referral practice facility that is located in West Islip, N.Y. The center offers a variety of services, such as dentistry, emergency, internal medicine, ophthalmology and surgery. The Veterinary Medical Center of Long Island maintains an avian and exotic medicine and surgery department that offers services for the care of birds and other small exotic pets, such as ferrets, rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, rodents, reptiles, snakes, turtles and amphibians. It also conducts ultrasounds, CT scans and X-rays, as well as maintains an intensive care unit.
