- Kidney StonesThe back is a complicated structure of bones, joints, ligaments, nerves, and muscles. You can sprain ligaments, strain muscles, rupture disks, irritate joints, and pinch nerves, all of which can lead to back pain. While sports injuries or accidents can cause back pain, sometimes the simplest movements, for example, picking up a pencil from the floor, can have painful results. In addition, arthritis, poor posture, obesity, and psychological stress can cause or complicate back pain. Back pain can also directly result from diseases of the internal organs, such as kidney stones, kidney infections, blood clots, or bone loss.

- WhiplashMany people do not seek treatment for minor accidents and fender benders. However, low impact collisions can result in injuries such as whiplash, back injuries, headaches, tightened muscles or inflammation. All of these injuries leave individuals at risk for long-term chronic pain. Prompt diagnosis and treatment is important in auto accidents. With appropriate diagnosis, your provider can develop a customized treatment plan designed to minimize the risk of long term disability and pain.

- Sports MedicineCauses of injury are many: slips and falls at home or in the workplace, strikes by falling objects, pedestrian injuries, sports injuries and auto accidents. In cases of severe injuries, most people get medical care immediately. Many chronic injuries are actually caused by accidents that don’t seem so bad at first. A wait and see attitude can be your worst enemy when it comes to accidents. This is particularly true when it comes to workplace or auto accidents. In these cases, by not seeking immediate medical treatment you set the stage for being denied coverage later.
- Physical TherapyWhat does it mean to be healthy? There are a lot of factors, and one of the most critical is your ability to move and function. Whether your movement is compromised by aging, injury, disease, or environmental factors, physical therapy can help restore movement and improve your overall health. Physical therapy is a tool for healing musculoskeletal or soft tissue injuries, regardless of whether they’re caused by illness, overuse or misuse, sports injury, or workplace accident.
- Frozen ShoulderYou may feel pain only upon movement or all of the time. The pain may be temporary or prolonged. Shoulder pain can be caused by numerous medical conditions ranging from strained rotator cuff muscles to heart attack. This pain can have several etiologies and go by many different names. Some of the most common names include bursitis; rotator cuff tear or sprain; frozen shoulder; arthritis; AC separation; and shoulder dislocation.

- Manual TherapyThe shoulder, also known as the glenohumeral joint, is the most mobile joint in the body. The bones of the shoulder are held together via muscles, tendons, ligaments and bursa in a complex system of multiple joints. The most “famous” of these muscle groups is the rotator cuff. Shoulder pain has many possible causes and requires a visit to Advanced Physical Medicine & Therapy where our providers will properly diagnose and develop a treatment plan. Early diagnosis has a significant impact upon treatment length and prognosis. In addition to chiropractic manipulative therapy, the treatment plan may include soft tissue mobilization, manual therapy, massage, rehabilitative exercises and stretches, or physical therapy. - Orthotics and Prosthetic Therapy
- Achilles TendonitisOrthotics are often recommended and helpful for the following conditions: plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendonitis, arthritis, shin splints, bunions, knee or hip pain, diabetes, metatarsalgia, pronation of the foot, and lower back pain. While the orthotics available at drug stores and at mall kiosks may feel good, they are not prescriptive in nature and will not correct a problem. In the case that you do have a bio-mechanical issue in your foot, an orthotic will provide a corrective function and reduce pain. These types of orthotics should be fit by a physician trained in the bio-mechanics of the foot.
