Established in 1980, the Walnut Creek Family YMCA employs more than 10,000 members. The organization provides a variety of programs, including aquatics, fitness, preschool, and youth and adult sports. Its facilities include an indoor pool, fitness center, gymnasium, running track, cycling room and aerobics studio. The Walnut Creek Family YMCA s Trim Kids program discusses several psychological issues, such as peer pressure, bullying and self-esteem. The organization supports various sports programs, including volleyball, soccer and basketball. Its child care programs include music, group projects, field trips, homework assistance, and arts and crafts. The Walnut Creek Family YMCA is a part of the YMCA of Greater Des Moines.
