  Dr. Brunkhorst also has an interest in hip arthroscopy and enjoys helping patients with new, advanced hip procedures. In addition, he manages the care of sports-related injuries and conditions, as well as workers’ compensation cases. He is committed to continuing education and research, so he is able to offer the most advanced and state-of-the-art treatments to his patients.

  For the past 16 years, Robin Hall has worked in outpatient hand therapy fabricating splints, providing wound care and treating a variety of elbow, wrist and hand injuries.

  Dr. Matthew DeWall joined DMOS Orthopaedic Centers in 2008. He specializes in sports medicine of the knee and hip, and is highly skilled in all aspects of knee surgery including partial joint, total joint replacement, and arthroscopic surgery.

  Iowa native, Dr. Joseph Brunkhorst, completed fellowship training in sports medicine and arthroscopy at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky. Dr. Brunkhorst developed his interest in sports medicine while competing as an NCAA Division I athlete during his undergraduate education at Iowa State University. Prior to joining DMOS in 2015, he also served as a Captain in the U.S. Army.

  Dr. DeWall is an expert in Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) reconstruction, knee arthritis and osteoarthritis, and meniscal repair. He uses the latest techniques and technology to perform simple and more complex hip replacement procedures. He has published both textbook chapters and scientific journal articles on the research he has done with respect to the knee and hip.

  Dr. Brunkhorst specializes in shoulder and knee arthroscopy, knee ligament reconstruction, and shoulder arthroplasty – including reverse total shoulder arthroplasty, cartilage restoration procedures, including the new MACI and joint injections.

  Outside of practicing sports medicine, Dr. DeWall enjoys supporting local sports teams, as well as participating in outdoor activities with his family and friends.

  Taylor Pirillo is an Occupational Therapist at our West Des Moines office. Originally from Seattle, Washington, Taylor moved to Oelwein, Iowa when she was 10. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science from the University of Iowa and completed her Doctorate of Occupational Therapy from Drake University.

  Dr. Julie Grundberg is a Des Moines native. After graduating from Dowling and Drake, she joined the DMOS team in 2000. Dr. Grundberg specializes in all foot and ankle injuries which includes but is not limited to plantar fasciitis, diabetic nail care, ingrown toenails, and other athletic injuries. She has a passion for helping others get back onto their feet. In Dr. Grundberg’s free time she enjoys recreational activities with her family. This includes snow skiing, water skiing, boating and traveling.
