- PulpotomyThe good news is that there are several positive treatments for traumatic tooth injuries. For example, an experienced endodontist helps treat and manage the dental pulp, pulp space, and the root. In more extreme traumatic cases, treatments such as repositioning, pulpotomy, splinting, and root canal may be appropriate.
- Root Canal TreatmentRoot canal treatment is a procedure to relieve dental pain and save your natural teeth. Patients typically need a root canal when there is inflammation or infection in the roots of a tooth. During root canal treatment, an endodontist who specializes in such treatment carefully removes the pulp inside the tooth, cleans, disinfects and shapes the root canals, and places a filling to seal the space. Thanks to modern techniques and effective anesthesia, patients who experience root canals are six times more likely to describe it as painless than patients who have a tooth removed. An internally damaged tooth requires root canal treatment to treat pain and get back healthy teeth. The root canal is also known as endodontic treatment and in this procedure the damaged or pain causing part of the teeth is removed. Beneath the hard layer of enamel, is the soft pulp, which is a soft tissue containing blood, blood vessels, nerve endings and nerves. Below the pulp are the roots of the teeth, where inflammation can cause pain and infection. In the treatment, the pulp is removed and remaining root cavities are permanently filled with a filling after cleaning and sterilizing it from inside. Root canal in Chandler has been proved to provide many other important benefits like good teeth for effective chewing and biting and providing a natural look for your teeth. Root canal also protects adjacent teeth from strain. You must consult a professional root canal specialist, who has enough experience and it capable of performing the treatment. Dentists also use certain amount of anesthesia as the process can be bit painful. With help from a good endodontist, you can get the best results with a pain free and comfortable treatment.
- ApicoectomyA 48-year-old man came to us with gum infection in his lower jaw that drained pus through openings called sinus tracts. He had suffered from trauma in a car accident 20 years ago, and this infection had been coming and going throughout that entire 20-year period, requiring the patient to take antibiotics often. He did not want to see a dentist out of fear that his treatment might be painful. We started by completing root canals on tooth #24, 25, 26 which were not vital. However, the sinus tracts / drainage was still present. Our next step was to conduct root end surgery (apicoectomy), and remove the cystic tissue that had formed around the drainage. Our interventions were successful, and we kept the patient comfortable throughout the procedures. He was very happy that after 20 years of living with this infection, it healed fully. He was also thrilled that he didn’t experience any pain / discomfort after the root canal procedures, which had prevented him from seeking treatment in the first place. On our end, it was very rewarding to bring an end to fear and suffering that had impacted a patient for nearly half his life.
- DenturesTooth extraction can take longer than root canal treatment due to follow-up appointments required for a denture, bridge or implant; plus the cost may be higher. Most dental insurance plans cover endodontic treatment.
