TCI was founded in 1984 to offer the business community the highest level of excellence in stabilizing its telephone cost. Until 1990, TCI was chiefly functioning as an independent consultant for clients who required networking and PBX equipment project expertise. During 1990 the industry was defining a wiring scheme that was independent of any one vendor, driven by a new' Ethernet that would run over telephone wire. TCI seized the opportunity to be in the forefront of this new technology and elected to concentrate its consulting on Structured Cabling Solutions. This focus has exposed our personnel to situations that required unique solutions and required constant monitoring of emerging standards. This has gained TCI a respected position in the industry. Since 1984, Telnet Consulting, Inc.has continued to service the business community on a territorial approach as a totally autonomous consulting firm. We elected not to specialize in a specific vertical market but rather to market to a territory (PA, NJ, DEL MD ). This territorial approach enabled us to maintain relationships with the local vendors, distribution and manufacturer's representatives. The alternate, vertical market consulting focuses solely on a specific industry or product. Vertical market consultants assume that certain client's requirements are always the same; therefore, these needs can be lumped into a "boiler plate" approach. This approach negates the in-depth personal aspects of a client's uniqueness in their own vertical market. It is impossible for a singular individual to offer the needed expertise to a potential client in Networking, Data, PBX selection and Cabling as all are distinctly different disciplines, but knowledge on only one aspect limits the diversity of solutions. TCI recognized that change is a part of the wiring industry that is driven by new applications and that understanding wire alone was not sufficient to comprehend the client requirements. The attendance at seminars and the subscription to standards update services on cable, LANs and telephone applications has maintained a working knowledge on the applications that attach to a Structured Cabling System. This approach brings an understanding of the needs of the client into the design of a cabling system.
