• Dental Examination
  Every new patient receives a comprehensive exam to assess his or her smile, bite, TMJ function, bone height, and risk for disease. At return visits, we will also provide periodic exams that note changes from your first exam. This helps Dr. Masella pinpoint problems as soon as they begin to develop. The earlier the needs are addressed, the simpler the course of treatment can be!
• X-rays
  The most common reason why wisdom teeth need to be removed is due to the lack of space in the mouth for four more teeth. Dental x-rays will be able to tell if this is the case pretty early in the development stages and wisdom teeth removal will be recommended. However, if this is not caught early, or if treatment is not completed, the teeth will begin to erupt, pushing the other teeth out of the way. This will cause overcrowding and crooked, overlapping teeth. There’s also the possibility that the teeth will get lodged under the gum line and in the jaw bone. This is known as impaction. Impacted wisdom teeth can be very painful and the procedure to remove them becomes more complicated. Lastly, impacted wisdom teeth can increase the chance for infection or an abscess.
• Oral Cancer Screening
  Oral cancer causes more loss of life than cervical cancer or melanoma. Pinpointing precancerous and abnormal tissues when they are small means treatment outcomes are more effective. You don’t have to smoke or be “at risk” in order to be diagnosed with the disease. Our dentists conduct a thorough oral cancer screening during every exam.

  Preventive care keeps gum disease at bay, and catches problems when they’re still small. Our hygiene department, headed up by Patti, uses ultrasonic instruments for gentle and effective dental cleanings. Dr. Tom started the Honeymoon Special and it is still as popular today as it ever was. If someone in your immediate family is getting married then stop by the week before and we will polish you up for free and get your smile camera ready. We also offer free checkups to children under the age of 3.

Restorative

• Veneers
  If you want a straighter, whiter smile in next to no time, porcelain veneers are a wonderful option. Veneers cover the front of the teeth, creating the appearance of a brand new smile with virtually no drilling of your existing teeth.
• Crowns
  Wisdom teeth tend to erupt just like any other teeth with the roots facing the jaw bone and the crown pointing toward the gum line. However, there are times when wisdom teeth can become crooked or start to erupt at an angle or sideways. If the happens wisdom teeth to be extracted before they have a chance to cause permanent damage to not only the other teeth but also to your bite.

  Fixed dental bridges are permanent restorations that are used to replace one or two missing teeth. As long as healthy teeth are adjacent to the space, a bridge can be used. The bridge is similar to having crowns anchored onto these supporting teeth, with a false replacement crown suspended between them (“bridging” the open area.)

  Gum disease is the biggest cause of tooth loss in adults. Our periodontal therapy program helps halt and reverse gum disease, allowing our patients to keep their teeth longer. If you suffer from gums that bleed easily or are swollen, bad breath, or heavy tartar buildup, then you may have gum disease. A customized plan including a deep cleaning and maintenance visits can help you overcome bone and tooth loss.

Prosthodontics

  Removable dentures and partial dentures are an easy way to replace all of your missing teeth at one time. These appliances are worn in the day, and removed overnight. The prosthetic teeth are handcrafted in a lab so that they look great and feel comfortable.

  By capturing 3D images of the jaws and bone with our CT scanning equipment, implants can be placed more efficiently. This means that recovery time is shorter, and that patients may still be able to have the treatment completed even if they thought it was not an option. Utilizing 3D technology allows implants to be placed where bone is the strongest, ensuring a successful, stable placement that can be depended on. Dr. Mike uses the digital mockups of your mouth to prepare for your surgery.

  Our dentists perform the majority of oral surgery treatments here in our private practice. They include routine extractions as well as surgical extractions for impactions such as wisdom teeth. We put our patients’ comfort first, so you can rest easy and know that you’re in good hands.

  We’ll also send several sets of trays home with you after each check-in appointment. This will allow you to progress your treatment on your own time, enabling you to fit it into your busy schedule. We will still need to monitor your progress from time to time, but you’ll have fewer, shorter appointments than people with traditional orthodontics.
• Invisalign Orthodontics
  One of the biggest concerns people have when they’re getting ready to begin orthodontic treatment is how they will care for their teeth. With Invisalign, oral hygiene is simple! Just remove your clear aligner trays to brush and floss as normal. This also prevents white circles from forming on your teeth, which is common around traditional orthodontic brackets.
• Braces
  Invisalign is invisible braces that are made of clear alignment trays. The trays are changed out every 2 weeks, with no in-office adjustments needed. Each set of trays moves your teeth further into the correct position, until your smile is perfect! Both adults and teens are able to improve their smiles without other people realizing they’re even wearing braces.
