The Wayne Police Department provides law enforcement and crime prevention services. The department intervenes in cases of theft, burglary, sexual assault, serious crime, narcotics trafficking and domestic violence. It conducts investigations, gathers evidence, and interviews suspects, victims and witnesses. It responds to emergency and nonemergency calls for service. The Wayne Police Department operates patrol, investigations and operations divisions. The department s records division processes and manages criminal records, clearance reports, and search and arrest warrants. It also offers the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) program. In addition, the Wayne Police Department organizes several safety-related training sessions for the general public. Headquartered in Wayne, N.J., the department employs more than 100 sworn officers.
