The Wayne County Department of Public Health works under the State of Michigan Public Health Code. It provides businesses and residents a variety of services, including childhood immunizations, vision screenings and restaurant inspections. Its environmental health division administers and enforces state and county environmental health laws, assists businesses in meeting their regulatory responsibilities and design environmental health programs to meet community needs. Its five health centers provides a broad list of services, such as dental care, HIV counseling and testing, immunizations, insurance eligibility services, lead and pregnancy testing, food program and family planning. Its emergency preparedness program develops protocols, policies and plans related to public health outbreaks and acts of bioterrorism. It collaborates with local providers to offer the care, prevention, education and disease surveillance options for the citizens of Wayne, Mich.
