History Leos Jewelry & Gifts, the oldest family owned business in Wayne, Michigan ; began as a small toy and furniture store started by Leo Zuckerman in the early 1940's. The small one room store showcased everything from toys to appliances to electronics, and quickly outgrew its small surroundings to make way for a larger location. The strong demand for gift and collectible items influenced the decision to change the format of this small ' house-store'. The new gift store was opened in 1956 and was located 2 doors west of where the store stands today. That same year, Leo passed away and the business was succeeded by his wife, Dorothy and his 2 teenage sons, Larry and David. Shortly thereafter at this location was where the first jewelry showcase was displayed. As business increased, expansion was able to take place again. The store was moved to its current location in 1975. Although at this point many businesses were leaving Wayne, the Zuckerman family decided to remain in the city that had provided them with loyal business for the past 30 years. Who could have imagined when our father Leo Zuckerman started Leo's Toy & Gift shop in 1945 that we could become the Leo's Jewelry & Gifts we are today.
