The evening walk through Wausau's downtown cobblestone streets was gorgeous, to find El Jalapeno inside the Market's lower level was like finding a gem in such an unexpected place. Color! Wonderful servers! The food is the best authentic Mexican I've ever had-a lemon lime type chicken meal...was fabulous and the marguarita, well actually, was a bit strong! Lovely interior, atmosphere, design, within a gorgeous quaint cozy part of an otherwise very widely spread out and "northwoods" area. I love that, too, but to step into El Jalapeno was a destination within a destination. Will definitely go back!

We went for lunch and had enchilada's and margarita's. It was very good and we will go back for sure. The restaurant is in a really neat location in downtown Wausau and is colorfully decorated, very clean and the wait staff were excellent. The food is very reasonably priced and the mango margarita's were excellent. Very good salsa also.
