For many years we have been proud to serve families of the Cedar Valley with a caring, dignified service. We welcome you to our web site and encourage you to browse the many offerings and information available here. We are always available to answer your questions. Please feel free to contact us. Grarup Funeral Directors/Owners Our Beginning In 1954, a young gentleman by the name of Robert Oppold came to Waterloo and purchased Ray Hurley Funeral Home. Mr. Oppold purchased the old Knights of Columbus Hall and remodeled it into a funeral home at 400 South Street, renaming it the Oppold Funeral Home. In 1982, Mr. Oppold purchased the O'Keefe and Towne Funeral Home from John Carter and served Waterloo families out of both locations. In January of 1990, Mr. Oppold sold his business to his three employees, Louis L. Hagarty, John M. Waychoff and Paul R. Grarup. Currently, we are joined by funeral director, Louis W. Hagarty. We have two office managers, Sherry Peters at our South Street location and Teresa Krantz at our West Ridgeway location. We are also assisted by our Pre-need counselors, Teresa Johnson and Amber Haley and our Aftercare Coordinator, Leslie Fitzgerald. Our part-time attendants include Dennis and Linda Heiser, Verelyn Mayer, Nick Anderson and Jim Lowe. As it was in the beginning, we feel our staff will offer the highest level of care and professionalism to your family. We will always be available to assist you in your needs.
