BEWARE!!!

After going to this location in order to have a comprehensive eye exam, to see if my prescription needed changing, I shelled out $612.52. After abotu 10 days I was notified that my order was finished. When I went to pick up the glasses, only the sunglasses were finished. I asked the lady why I was told that the order was complete? I was told that it was a mistake and the clear glasses would be another few days before being completed. After another week, I was informed via email that the order was done, and they could not reach me via telephone, so they had to email me. But yet they had called me the first time when the sunglasses were finished?!

When I picked up the order, and was being fitted I told the sales person that the glasses did not feel right, and the prescription felt "off". I could not focus like I could have when I was in the opthometrist chair. The lady basically shrugged me off, stating that "I would get used to it". I tried wearing the glasses for a month, and my eyes never did adjust, the headaches just got worse. So unfortunately, i went back to my old glasses, and the headaches stopped.

I contacted the business in order to try and get a refund, and they told me they "have a no return/refund policy". I said fine, put the glasses on the counter, told her she could keep them, and walked out the door.

This location is very unprofessional, discourteous, and very untrained. Do yourself a favor, do not go to Bard Optical if you need glasses!!!

BUYER BEWARE! Bard Optical /...

BUYER BEWARE! Bard Optical / J.A.K. Enterprises, Inc. made glasses for me that were so defective as a result of poor workmanship that they caused me two years of double vision and migraine headaches. I had numerous tests and doctor visits including a brain MRI to make sure that I did not have a tumor that was causing my double vision and headaches.

Finally my ophthalmologist tested not only my eyes but also my glasses and found that the cause of these significant problems was the glasses. These glasses which were made by Bard Optical's own lab, had more than 4 times the recommended amount of base down prism in my left eye and more than 5 times the recommended amount of base down prism (set by the American Standards Institute ANSI) in my right eye. This created a vertical imbalance that my brain and the muscles of my eyes could not overcome and the result was double vision and migraine headaches. These standards set by the ANSI have been established for our protection and should be followed by all optical care providers.

When I contacted Diana J. Hall, owner of Bard Optical, she responded with a letter in which she stated that the prism was normal in lenses of this nature and that Bard Optical's services met the applicable standard of care. In my opinion, their standard of care is clearly not what it should be and is definitely not within ANSI standards. When I had new glasses made at Illinois Eye Center, the migraine headaches and double vision disappeared. At that point there was not a doubt in my mind that it was the glasses made by Bard Optical that caused me years of suffering and almost $10,000 in medical expenses.

Bard Optical is the assumed name of J.A.K. Enterprises, Inc. When I filed a small claims case against Diana J. Hall and Bard Optical the case was dismissed because I did not file the lawsuit against J.A.K. Enterprises, Inc. They won on a technicality even though both Bard Optical and J.A.K. Enterprises have the same address and Diana J. Hall is the President of both companies. The corporate office of Bard Optical located at 8309 N. Knoxville Ave. Peoria, Illinois had no signage and looked like a vacant building making it next to impossible to contact them. Because it was so difficult to find them, it took almost two months to serve the papers of the lawsuit.

I hope that by reading this you will be armed with the knowledge to protect yourself and the people you love.
