Diagnostic

• Dental Examination
  Your initial visit will typically consist of a medical history review and thorough dental examination. During the exam, we will determine the health of your teeth, oral tissues, gums and bone, airway, and your jaw. Any appropriate 2D or 3D xrays, a digital scan, or intraoral pictures will be taken at this time. We will also perform an oral cancer screening. At this appointment we will recommend any necessary treatment as well as the type of hygiene visit that is right for you. Often times, we will complete your cleaning at this appointment and recommend regular future cleanings and exams every 6 months. If certain conditions in the gum and bone are present, we may recommend a separate appointment for your cleaning and more frequent recall visits. If any risk factors for underlying airway disease is observed, another appointment will be scheduled for further assessment. As always, we value your time and will always try to keep your dental visits within the allotted appointment.

• Oral Cancer Screening
  The dentist or hygienist will ask about your recent medical history, and discuss any dental problems you may be having. Unless you have a recent set of x-rays from a previous dentist, x-rays will most likely be taken. The hygienist may use a special dental instruments to check your gums for gum disease. Your dentist will examine your mouth and evaluate your overall dental health and conduct an oral cancer screening visually and with a special light to catch any dangerous tissue changes early. The dentist will also evaluate your TMJ as well as airway, as well as the entire craniofacial complex. Our team will also do a digital iTero scan of the teeth as a baseline record to measure your gum levels, tooth wear, and tooth position. This scan can be used in the future to pick up any changes to your oral health before it becomes problematic.

  Dr. Jackie Cheng strives to provide dental care of the highest quality with compassion. She believes in optimizing the patient experience in order to achieve the best treatment outcome possible. Dr. Cheng received her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from Case Western Reserve University with a full scholarship from the US Army. Her research in public health dentistry was recognized by the American Dental Association. She proudly served as an Active Duty officer serving soldiers and their families for four years with duty locations in Germany and Japan. She has extensive experience in emergency management, prosthodontics, and restorative dentistry. Dr. Cheng is fluent in English, Mandarin Chinese, and German. She has worked with patients from all around the world. She volunteers at Federally Qualified Health Centers to treat underserved communities and to promote patient advocacy.   Dr. Kreuzer has specialty training in three fields, Periodontics, Periodontal Prosthesis-Fixed Prosthodontics, and Implantology but does not "limit" his practice to any field. For three years during his postdoctoral training in the dual specialties of Perio and Perio-Prosthesis at the University of Pennsylvania, he also practiced the specialty of Endodontics (Root Canal Therapy) exclusively in the evenings and on saturdays in a faculty members private practice. This extensive educational background and experience in treating advanced cases allows him to be able to save the patients natural teeth for as long as reasonably possible in health and in function.

  In the event of adults who wish to fix the underlying anatomic deficiencies who are already done growing, we offer adult expanders (MSE- maxillary skeletal expansion, or MARPE- mini-screw assisted rapid palatal expansion) that are fixated to the roof of the mouth with mini-implants. This is also a customized appliance that is cemented and fixated to skeletally open up the bone, which often times improves nasal breathing and sinus clarity, sometimes also decreasing symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis and sinusitis. Following the expanders, conventional orthodontic treatment or clear aligner therapy can be done in our office, or in conjunction with an orthodontist that we work closely with to complete the more complicated cases. We have seen an improvement in breathing and decrease in problems breathing in patients who remove underlying anatomic deficiencies with this approach. Sleep apnea is multi-factorial in nature, but with this method, we can at least remove any anatomic and skeletal reasons which might predispose you to obstruction.

  Dr. Robinson is a general dentist with a passion for evaluating patient’s jaws and teeth and assessing their overall craniofacial health. She specializes in airway evaluation and craniofacial growth and modification with a focus on childhood interceptive orthodontics, as well as adult airway evaluation and treatment to help with sleep disordered breathing and sleep apnea. She is a member of Sleep Group Solutions, which uses cutting edge technology to determine the ideal jaw positioning for dental sleep apnea devices to decrease respiratory disturbances while sleeping. She is a Healthy Start and Myobrace provider, places expanders in adults and children, and uses clear aligner therapy to guide growth and development in children. She was also trained by leading specialists in the country to perform maxillary skeletal expansion in teenagers and adults using MSE appliances and custom MARPE appliances. Dr. Robinson also has a trained myofunctional therapist on her staff that helps to improve patient’s overall airway health during, before or after airway procedures.
